what's kickin', chickens? it's been over a month since i updated my journal last, so i thought i better give you all an update (not that there is really much to say). we've bought a house closer to the city, so we'll be moving around the end of november. i'll be getting myself a job, and the first big spend i'm making will be a brand spankin' new EOS. exciting, i know.
i've been editing a few older photos i intend to upload soon. i won't be taking new photos for a while after a few weeks, because we're going to be super busy. we've got way too much shit in this house to pack, but we're gonna do it!
summer is coming, which means loads of socialising, concerts and festivals. i'm excited, and am also looking forward to another year of seeing everyone on the other side of the world posting photos with nothing but snow!

i'm posting this journal, because i've got some beef here on DA, and i think it's important that you all read what i have to say , especially the second part of this journal!
i'm so sick of coming on here every day, looking in the most popular pieces of art for the last 8 hours, and softcore porn. seriously, just look: [link]hotography&order=24 i've actually never realised that deviantart was feeding the cravings of 15 year old, hormonal teenage boys as well as 50 year old sexually deprived pedobears. i bet that right now, there's at least 5 guys somewhere going for it alone (*wink wink nudge nudge*) over the pics here on DA. now, obviously i DO NOT have a problem with artistic nudes, because that is art. but many of the photos and pictures uploaded here to DA draw a fine line between artistic nudes and pornography.
now, this is my second beef with DA atm. obviously this is a community for artists and art lovers, it's for those who want to share their art with the world, and for those who simply admire it. that's all well and good, but i am over artists who earn loads of praise, yet they hardly deserve it. many popular artists here on DA are just good looking, so they score many more fans than those who are actually gifted and really, really talented. i've discovered so many underrated artists that deserve more than what they get. i'm sick to death of good looking guys getting thousands of page views, simply because little 13 year old girls think they're OMFGZZZZ SOOO HOTZZZ!!!!111!!!!11!!1!!one!!!!!!1! people really need to take the time to actually browse deviant art. i always look at the most popular photos from the last 8 hours; there are some amazing pictures there. also, when looking at someones profile; check out the people they watch, check out their comments to see whose work they've ed, also just check out their favourites. i've found some awesome art this way . whenever you have free time, spend it browsing deviantart! please be sure to watch and any underrated artists you see, and share their work with your watchers by posting their work in journals and news articles!

sometimes i wanna cheat, but i don't, i wanna quit, but i won't, 'cause i made this bed, give me a shovel, you'll be amazed at how fast i dig a grave, baby, just to lay in it. you're only brave 'til you're scared, you're only unique until compared, to every other worthless fuck trying to crawl into bed tonight.
i haven't posted a new journal entry for a while, so i thought i better now. i've been browsing DA a lot more than i usually do, and i have found some wonderful and inspiring artwork. i think it's such a shame that there are some really under rated artists here on DA, especially when there are popular artists who don't exactly deserve to be in the spotlight. .
along with browsing DA more, i've also been experimenting more with photoshop than i have in the past. i never understood people spending an excessive amount of time in photoshop before, but i've come to realise how much it can help you express and improve your art. there may be certain effects you would like to use, but you can't get them with your camera. i don't believe in using PS to the extent that your photography actually becomes photo-manipulation, but if tweaking your photo helps you express certain emotions, then i say that you should go for it.

more people said that i should make an account specifically for my graphics and resources, so that this account can simply be for my photography. i have made the account, and am going to upload all the graphics and resources that i have, as well as any i make in the future. i'll be uploading stock photos, photoshop resources, textures, scans, blends, icons, etc. also, seeing as jarrad and i never use our stock account anymore, i'll take everything i've uploaded there, and will put it onto this new account.
